CEGE professor and chair visits alma mater

Dorota Grejner-Brzezinska, CEGE professor and chair, recently visited her alma mater, the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn, Poland, where she presented an opening lecture at the inauguration of the academic year 2016-17. While in Olsztyn, she received a prestigious research award named after the late former President of UWM and Professor of Geodesy, member
of the Polish Academy of Sciences, world renowned expert in satellite geodesy and geodynamics, and Brzezinska's former professor, Prof. Lubomir W. Baran.

The award is given for outstanding accomplishments in the field of geodetic science and engineering, and is presented by The Department of Geodesy, Urban Planning and Civil Engineering (GUPCE), University of Warmia and Mazury.

The national committee composed of the Head of GUOCE, President of UWM, President of the Polish Institute of Geodesy and Cartography, President of the Committee on Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences, President of the Polish Space Agency and several department heads of various departments of geodetic and civil engineering select one recipient per year. Professor Brzezinska is the second recipient of this award, established in 2015.
