Engineering diversity programs at Ohio State work closely with some of the country’s largest and most active engineering professional organization student chapters to build a strong supportive community. Some of our partner organizations include:
- American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)

- Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

We also offer a variety of student-centric academic and social enrichment programs that feature peer mentoring and mentoring by working professional engineers.
For our faculty:
Access to diversity focused K-12 outreach programs for broader impact activities in research proposals. Our Minority Engineering Program (MEP) and Women in Engineering (WiE) program have sustained partnerships with Central Ohio schools. Featured programs include, but are not limited to:
- STEM clubs in Columbus Public Schools for middle school and high school students
- FIRST Robotics teams in several local high schools
- Underwater robots team

Ohio's STEM Ability Alliance
Ohio’s STEM Ability Alliance is focused on increasing the quality and quantity of students with disabilities that earn post-secondary degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). OSAA is funded by a grant through the National Science Foundation to an alliance of Ohio institutions, including Wright State University, The Ohio State University, Columbus State Community College and Sinclair Community College. OSAA also partners with regional public schools, STEM industries, and government partners who work together to meet OSAA goals.
Ohio State ADVANCE
Since the implementation of Project CEOS (Comprehensive Equity at Ohio State) in 2008, a National Science Foundation ADVANCE grant, Ohio State has made great strides toward improving gender equity for faculty in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine). Project CEOS has been institutionalized at Ohio State through Ohio State ADVANCE, whose mission is to increase the representation, advancement and recruitment of women faculty in academic STEMM careers, and contribute to the development and success of global research leaders. The signature element of the grant is REACH for Commercialization™, a workshop series focused on inspiring female entrepreneurship in the STEM disciplines. The workshops provide personalized coaching for women faculty to help take their innovations to market.
