Jieun Hur recognized for teaching, research and outreach efforts

Jieun Hur, assistant professor of practice was named the 2021 Outstanding Engineering Educator by the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE). The award, presented during the All-Ohio Engineering Conference on June 12, 2021, recognizes the recipient's contribution to teaching, research, professional service and outreach to the community.

Prior to winning the statewide award, Hur was named the local Outstanding Engineering Educator by the Franklin County chapter of OSPE.

Among her many scholarly and service activities, Dr. Hur teaches civil engineering capstone courses and serves as a founding member of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering's Undergraduate Research Committee. She has advised CEGE's Steel Bridge team and is a founding member of the Central Ohio Miniature Bridge Building Competition (COMBBC). The event features high school teams from Central Ohio and intends to build greater interest in engineering and other STEM fields among teens.
