Members of the Ohio Water Resources Center (WRC) continued the center's tradition of outreach and education by particpating in the 11th annual Central Ohio Children's Water Festival. Held on May 8th, 2018 in Franklin Park, the festival hosted nearly 650 fifth-grade students representing 13 area elementary schools.

The WRC led interactive workshops that taught student attendees about buoyancy. Staff members used different items to illustrate why some things float while others sink, when placed into water. Students were given a list of miscellaneous items and were asked to predict which items would sink or float, based on the principles of bouyancy. Those in attendance were also treated to a lesson in paper boat making. The resulting creations were then "put out to sea" in friendly competition.
