Dr. Frank Croft, Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering, presented The History of the International Conference on Geometry and Graphics - One Person's Reflection at the 17th International Conference on Geometry and Graphics (ICGG 2016), held August 4 - 8, 2016 in Beijing, China.

The conference, states the International Society for Geometry and Graphics, "aims at providing a forum for presentation and discussion of both academic and industrial research involving theoretical and applied geometry and graphics as well as other related fields". During his presentation, to an audience that included approximately 165 academics from five continents, Professor Croft offered his personal reflections on previous conferences and the history of graphics education.

The fields of engineering graphics and descriptive geometry, in which three dimensional elements are represented in two dimensional form, are well-known to Croft. He served as Associate Professor in Ohio State's Department of Engineering Graphics from 1984 through 1994 and as Section Head of Engineering Graphics, within CEGE, from 1999 until 2006.

Dr Croft appreciates this opportunity to recall the history of the organization as its members look to the future of the two, integrated fields. "The ICGG group has met consistently to discuss research and new initiatives. This lends credibility and also sustainability to our efforts in the graphics world" he states.
