University Presidential Fellowship
Ashley received her BS in civil engineering, BA in Spanish and MS in civil engineering all from Ohio State. Her PhD research focuses on understanding and modeling transpiration from forested ecosystems. Transpiration from terrestrial ecosystems forms the critical link between the carbon and water cycles, but is not currently well represented by land-surface models. Her current work explores how hydrodynamic stress, species specific properties, and disturbance influence this flux
Ashley is from Vienna, West Virginia and became interested in engineering when she realized that she could combine math, physics, and creativity to solve challenging, real world problems.
Congratulations to Ashley and her advisor, CEGE Associate Professor, Dr. Gil Bohrer.
