Faculty awards celebration
Civil engineering is proud of our three faculty members who were recently honored at the College of Engineering Faculty Awards event.
Dr. Frank Croft - Ralph L. Boyer Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Engineering Innovation Award. Named for the late Ralph L. Boyer, a 1924 mechanical engineering graduate, this award is presented to a faculty team or individual faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to the improvement of undergraduate engineering education. Dr. Croft was honored for his leadership in the Engineering Summer Academy program and for its impact on the recruitment of high ability students to the College of Engineering.
Dr. Rabi Mishalani - Lumley Research Award. The Lumley Engineering Research Award is presented to outstanding researchers in the College of Engineering who have shown exceptional activity and success in pursuing new knowledge of a fundamental or applied nature. This award recognizes the research contributions and productivity of faculty and research scientists over the last five years. Funds for this award are made possible by an endowment established by John H. and Mildred C. Lumley.
Dr. Gil Bohrer - Lumley Interdisciplinary Research Award (along with Peter Curtis, Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology). This award was established in 2002 in honor of John H. Lumley, a 1927 ceramic engineering graduate, and recognizes the interdisciplinary research accomplishments of the college’s faculty and research staff. Funds are made possible by an endowment established by John H. and Mildred C. Lumley. The award is presented to a team of faculty and/or research scientists who have demonstrated significant research collaboration that cuts across departmental or discipline boundaries.
The College of Engineering annually honors faculty members for outstanding teaching and research. The 2014 awardees were recognized on April 24 in the Blackwell ballroom.
