Tan and Sichko Honored with State and Local Awards

After recently receiving the 2013 Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), Franklin County Chapter (FCC) Outstanding Engineering Educator Award, Dr. Fabian Hadipriono Tan has been selected to receive the statewide 2013 OSPE Outstanding Engineering Educator Award.

The Ohio Society of Professional Engineers Outstanding Engineering Educator Award is presented annually to an outstanding engineering educator at the college level and in presented at the Spring Conference and Annual Meeting of OSPE and Engineers Foundation of Ohio.  This year the spring conference will be held on June 15th at Ohio University.

Dr. Tan has over 30 years of teaching experience in construction engineering, and management. He has taught a variety of courses and currently teaches undergraduate “Introduction to Engineering – I/II” courses, as well as “History of Ancient Engineering."

Alec Sichko will be honored at the same conference for being the 2013 FCC Outstanding Engineering Student and for receiving the statewide Ohio Society of Professional Engineers Outstanding Engineering Student Award. The Ohio Society of Professional Engineers Outstanding Student Award honors an engineering student from an ABET-accredited Ohio engineering school based on scholastic achievement, and participation in professional, technical, and other activities. Alec also previously received the local chapter award.

Alec graduated from OSU in June, 2012 with a BS in Civil Engineering and is currently a graduate student. His focus is the application of mechanical rebar couplers in high strength reinforcement applications.
