ASPRS Robert E. Althnhofen Memorial Scholarship

Hui Ju, a PhD candidate, co-advised by Professor Dorota Grejner-Brzezinska and Dr. Charles Toth, received the 2013 ASPRS Robert E. Althnhofen Memorial Scholarship and the 2012-2013 ASPRS Northern California Region Scholarship at the recent annual meeting of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) that was held in Baltimore, Maryland.  The award was presented to Hui during the Memorial Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, March 26th. The Altenhofen Scholarship is intended to encourage and commend college students who display exceptional interest and ability in the theoretical aspects of photogrammetry. Hui is working on applying lidar georeferencing for earth imaging applications.

The Robert E. Althnhofen Memorial Scholarship was first given in 1986.  The Althenhofen Scholarship consists of a check for $2,000 and certificate. This award is adminstrated by the ASPRS Foundation from funds provided by the estate of Mrs. Helen Altenhofen as a memorial to her husband, Robert E. Altenhofen. A past president of ASPRS, Mr. Robert Altenhofen was an outstanding pratcitioner of photogrammetry and made notable contributions to the mathematical aspects of the science.

The Northern California Region of ASPRS has awarded three scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year. Each award will consist of $500 and one year's paid membership to ASPRS (either Student or Associate level). One scholarship is awarded to students studying in each of the major disciplines of ASPRS - Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and GIS.
