2012 CEAA Outstanding Alumnus

The OSU Civil Engineering Alumni Association (CEAA) honored George E. Smith '64 as the 2012 Outstanding Civil Engineering Alumnus at their annual meeting held on Saturday, October 6, 2012. The presentation was made just before the OSU-Nebraska football game. George is co-founder of Wharton-Smith, a civil engineering construction company located in Sanford, Florida. Wharton-Smith is a recognized leader in the construction industry, completing more than 1,000 projects in Florida and producing an annual volume in excess of $225 million. Mr. Smith retired as President and CEO of Wharton-Smith in 2005, and continues in his role as Chairman of the Board. The CEAA outstanding alumni award honors graduates who have contributed to the profession by advancing knowledge in the field of civil engineering, providing civil engineering expertise for the benefit of the general public, demonstrating excellent in the teaching of civil engineering and practicing engineering, which contributes to the recognition of the civil engineering profession. Congratulations George!
