T.H. Wu Distinguished Lecture

Posted:

Dr. Fred H. Kulhawy, P.E., G.E., Distinguished Member, ASCE, recently presented the T.H. Wu Distinguished Lecture for our department.

His excellent lecture on how reliability-based design (RBD) of foundations can be used as another approach to geotechnical engineering applications was well received.  The presentation was very informative and interesting as he wove in the "good, bad and the ugly" issues of RBD design. In addition, Fred presented the merits of considering RBD for several geotechnical foundation examples. Several emeriti faculty, local engineers from the Columbus community, along with our students and faculty were in attendance.
