Letters of Recommendation

  • Recommendation letters need to be completed and sent directly from your references. They can either be completed via the online recommendation system or emailed/mailed to our office directly from your references.
  • Academic sources are highly preferred. These are people such as faculty advisors, professors you have had in class, lecturers, etc.
  • Letters from managers or supervisors are also acceptable but do not carry as much weight as academic sources.
  • Letters from Teaching Assistants are not acceptable.
  • Make sure you select individuals who will put the appropriate amount of time and effort into writing a reference letter. Choose individuals who are familiar with you, your work, and in whom you have confidence that can write you a strong recommendation.
  • Letters should be submitted via the online system whenever possible. In the event you cannot submit a letter via the online system, hard copies may be mailed to Ohio State:
